Appliance running cost calculator

Pick an appliance or type in its wattage, say how long you use it, and see what it costs on your electricity tariff.

Per hour–
Per day–
Per month–
Per year–

The power on the label is the maximum. Appliances with a thermostat or humidistat often use much less once the room reaches the setting, so treat this as the worst case. Your price per kWh is on your energy bill or app.

How the sum works

Cost = watts ÷ 1,000 × hours × price per kWh. A 200 W dehumidifier running 8 hours uses 1.6 kWh. At 25p per kWh, that is 40p a day.
